(KNSI) – CentraCare says its recent Stuff the Ambulance toy drive was a “heartwarming display of community spirit and generosity.”

The healthcare system had rigs parked in popular spots in six central Minnesota communities on December 1st, including Monticello, Paynesville, and Willmar. Over $28,000 was collected, along with better than 2,700 toys. The cash donations will be used to purchase even more gifts, and then everything will be handed out by area nonprofits and social services agencies to ensure a merry Christmas.

Other communities pitching in were Benson, Long Prairie, and Redwood Falls. Each has a CentraCare clinic or hospital that accepted early donations with monetary gifts taken online.

In a social media post, CentraCare says it was their best toy drive ever.
