(KNSI) – The family of a woman shot and killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Minneapolis on Wednesday has identified her as 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good.

Donna Ganger told the Minnesota Star Tribune that her daughter lived in the Twin Cities with her partner. The family says Good leaves behind a six-year-old son. She was previously married to the boy’s father, Timmy Ray Macklin Jr., who died in 2023.

Good was killed during an immigration enforcement operation that federal officials have characterized as an act of self-defense. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey described it as “reckless” and unnecessary.

Videos captured by bystanders from multiple vantage points and posted to social media show an officer approaching an SUV stopped in the middle of the road, demanding the driver open the door while grabbing the handle. As the SUV begins to pull forward, a different ICE officer standing in front of the vehicle draws his weapon and immediately fires at least two shots into the vehicle at close range, jumping back as it moves toward him. At least one video appears to show the vehicle making contact with the officer.

The SUV then sped forward, striking two parked cars on a nearby curb before coming to a stop.
