(KNSI) – A 92-year-old volunteer whose dedication to feeding those in need has inspired the Sauk Rapids community is being honored as the city’s Citizen of the Year.

Yvonne Crandall was selected on Tuesday as the 2026 Sauk Rapids Citizen of the Year. The former restaurateur has spent several years volunteering at the Living Waters Food Shelf, which is connected to Living Waters Church in Sauk Rapids. There, she stocks shelves, fills grocery bags, and pushes utility carts loaded with produce to help local families experiencing food insecurity.

According to the city, Crandall sets about her tasks with such vigor and vitality that her younger counterparts struggle to keep up. Beyond her work at the food shelf, she also serves the community through numerous other outreach ministry projects.

Crandall will be formally recognized by the Sauk Rapids City Council at its meeting on Monday, May 11th. The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Sauk Rapids Government Center, located at 250 Summit Avenue North.
