(KNSI) — The Minnesota Department of Transportation is closing the Clearwater River Bridge starting June 2nd as part of an $860,000 facelift.
Crews will resurface the bridge deck, replace paneling and joints on the approach, and upgrade the bridge railing. MnDOT says the work will make the span smoother and require fewer upkeep costs in the future.
Local traffic will still be able to use Highway 55 to the east and west of the bridge, but a detour will be set up for those trying to pass through.
Drivers will need to use County Road 44 in Kimball and then make a turn in Fairhaven at County Road 7, which becomes County Road 2 when you pass over into Wright County from Stearns. A temporary four-way stop will be installed at the intersection of CR 44 and CR 7.
Even when on the detour and navigating around the work site, officials ask drivers to watch out for workers and equipment.
