(KNSI) – A new day is shining for several members of the St. Cloud Fire Department.

The department held a graduation and promotional ceremony today at St. Cloud City Hall, in which new firefighters were officially recruited and others were promoted to higher ranks.

“This marks the completion of many hours of training, learning and preparation for a future in the fire service,” said Battalion Chief Ben Lundquist. “For those being promoted, it represents the continued growth of leadership, responsibility and service, both to the department and the community.”

Craig Cordie, Isak Dahlmeier, Gunnar Gilmore, Luke Lind, Joseph Manthey and Tyler Welle were among those officially welcomed as new firefighters. Justin Hattesohl was promoted to assistant fire marshal, Andy Rasmussen and Grant Sahir were promoted to captain and Derrick Anderson was promoted to battalion chief.

“Our fire department responds on average to nearly 10,000 calls a year,” said St. Cloud Mayor Jake Anderson. “It’s usually a situation that is not a person’s best day, so our professionalism is important, and how you do your best is important. I’ve always been impressed with our fire department leadership and all members of the team.”
