(KNSI) — The Minnesota State Patrol trooper being held in the Sherburne County Jail will face both federal and state charges for alleged sexual abuse of a child.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety says the Scott County Attorney’s Office will seek a conviction for first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a victim under 14 against Jeremy Plonski. County Attorney Ron Hocevar also promises prosecution and punishment to the fullest extent of the law.
Officials at the county, state, and federal levels say Plonski’s alleged actions were extremely graphic in nature, and because the victim in the case is under 14, the criminal complaints have remained sealed, and few details are being released.
Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Superintendent Drew Evans states, “This child endured unimaginable sexual abuse. We will continue our dogged pursuit of any criminal who preys on our children – our most vulnerable residents.”
The break in the case came last Wednesday when agents with the FBI in Houston, Texas, used forensic analysis to allegedly link Plonski to child pornography found on a cell phone. Federal charges against him were announced on Thursday. Plonski is being held in federal custody.
