(KNSI) – St. Cloud Area School District 742 is getting $7,730 for classroom supplies, and part of that money came from credit union members skipping a loan payment.
St. Cloud Financial Credit Union presented the donation to the district on Tuesday. The credit union started with its own gift and then added $15 for every loan payment members skipped during a recent promotion.
The money goes to the district’s Ready, Set, School program, which stocks classrooms with basic supplies so families don’t have to buy as much on their own. This school year, the program expanded to cover preschool through fifth-grade classrooms across the district.
Credit union employees also volunteered at St. Cloud Tech High School this summer, helping pack supplies before classes started.
Superintendent Laurie Putnam thanked the credit union and its members for the donation.
