(KNSI) — We’re a week into the new year, and if you’ve already broken your fitness resolution or still need to start, there’s help.

Surveys show 48% of adults say they want to work out more this year, but researchers say 23% quit in the first week and 95% give up by the end of the month.

St. Cloud Area Family YMCA Director of Healthy Living Cathy Elness explained to KNSI News the first step is coming in. “I always tell people, 90% of your workout is just showing up. So having the place to come and go and just start is the key. And we have so much here to offer in terms of that. And just coming up to the workout area or even classes.”

Elness says they have many resources and people to help along the way. The Y offers personal trainers, 80 weekly exercise classes, and amenities like a pool, racquetball courts, and a climbing wall.

“We are all here to help guide people to where they could go for their fitness journey,” Elness says.
