(KNSI) — CentraCare and Saint John’s University have agreed to a three-year partnership that makes CentraCare the official health care and orthopedic provider for Johnnie athletics.

CentraCare doctors will be on the sidelines for medical coverage at home and away football games and home hockey games. They will also hold regular clinic hours for student-athletes in the university’s athletic training room and work with Saint John’s sports medicine staff on injury care, prevention, and recovery. Orthopedic specialists are available through CentraCare’s partnership with M Physicians.

CentraCare and SJU also plan to create educational opportunities that connect athletes, coaches and health care workers with fans and the community.

“Outstanding health care support is critical to the success and well-being of our student-athletes,” said Dan O’Brien, SJU director of athletics. “CentraCare has been a valued health care partner, and this expanded relationship strengthens the resources available to our students while enhancing the experience for fans and the broader Johnnie community.”
