(KNSI) – Yes, it has been wet. St. Cloud set two daily precipitation marks this week with .65 inches on Tuesday and .72 inches measured Wednesday at Sky Central Airport. That’s on the heels of nearly and inch and a half of rain on Monday.

Meteorologist Joe Calderone with the National Weather Service in Chanhassen says it won’t be a continuing problem, adding, “Aside from maybe a handful of rivers that are coming near or approaching crest, the fact that we’re not going to be having any additional rain here for at least the next week, it’s just resulting in filling up the lakes, allowing rivers to rise up, but those gently come back down. It’s nothing harmful in the least.”

Calderone says temps for the rest of the month will remain above normal, with little precipitation expected over the next few weeks. He then offers a peek at the long-range forecast for December through February, saying “We’re looking for temperatures to remain above normal for precipitation. That’s kind of a two-pronged issue, where we could very well end up with above normal in terms of liquid numbers, but potentially near to below normal for snowfall.”

All that means it may be an easier winter for your car battery, but difficult for those who like to play on the ice and snow.
