(KNSI) – Old school rock and roll will be on display this Sunday in Saint Joseph.

Gates officially open at 5:00 p.m. at the corner of Minnesota Street and College Avenue. The Saint Joseph Parish Festival is spread out on the church grounds and the parking lot across the street. It is anchored by the Joetown Rocks concert, with headline act The Killer Vees. They have a lot of music lineage themselves and Tommy Vee says Edan Everly brings another famous last name to the mix.

“So Edan Everly is the son of Don Everly from the Everly Brothers. I’ve known Edan for years. We started doing some shows with Edan this past year. There will be a mini set within the Killer Vees set that will just be Everly Brothers.”

Vee says there is something about classic rock n’ roll that is hard to recapture in today’s music.

“I mean those melodies, you know, there are melodies from the Everly Brothers, or my dad, or Buddy Holly, or Ricky Nelson that people will be humming for the rest of time.”

Sponsors, including 99.9 Lite FM, will bring acts like Miss Darling Jane and Quinn Sullivan to the stage beginning at 6:00 p.m. Once the concert is finished, fireworks light up the night sky at about 10:15.

On Monday, the parade steps off at 10 a.m., followed by bingo and more live music. The raffle drawing ends the festival at 3:00 p.m. Vee appeared with KNSI’s Bob Hughes Tuesday morning.
