(KNSI) — The St. Cloud AmeriCorps Retired Senior Volunteer Program was honored with this year’s Reflection of the Year Award at Monday’s city council meeting.
RSVP Executive Director Jennifer Wucherer tells KNSI News the organization was thrilled to be honored and thinks she knows why they were picked. “The mayor was a part of our 50th anniversary recognition event, and I think he was able to really take in all of the wonder of this program and everything that it has to offer in our community.”
The organization helps people age 55 and older leave a legacy of service in the community. “We see folks that are either retired or close to retirement, that are looking to give back in the community. Folks come to us that are interested in doing something good,” says Wucherer.
The group has more than 1,000 volunteers helping in 150 organizations such as food shelves, student support, providing rides to those who can’t drive, and Meals on Wheels.
