(KNSI) — The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for part of the KNSI listening area.
Stearns County is included in that advisory which starts at 9:00 Monday morning. The chart has most of the county in the 2″ to 4″ range, but southern parts closer to Kandiyohi and Meeker County could see three to five inches. Benton and Sherburne County are not in the advisory but could see 2″ to 3″ of new accumulation by the time it is all said and done.
The winter weather advisory is in place until 6:00 a.m. Tuesday.
Forecasters say snow will spread from southwestern Minnesota through the day today and into Tuesday. Several inches of snow are possible in that area and across western Minnesota through the evening hours.
Winds will kick up and come out of the north after the system passes. The strongest gusts will again be in southern Minnesota. Closer to home, gusts between 20 and 25 miles an hour are possible.
