(KNSI) — Authorities have ruled the death of a man at a Meeker County boat landing an accidental drowning.
The sheriff’s office says deputies were called to the Lake Washington boat access in Ellsworth Township at 1:20 p.m. for a medical emergency. Investigators say 56-year-old Edward Chabot and his wife were getting a pontoon ready at the landing. He was standing in the water working on the boat when he went under. Chabot was brought to shore, where life-saving measures were taken before he was rushed to Hutchinson Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The incident remains under investigation.
