(KNSI) – An 18-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Sherburne County early Wednesday morning.
The Minnesota State Patrol says the crash happened around 6:00 am, at the intersection of Highway 169 and 221st Street Northwest, in Elk River.
According to the initial incident report, a 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer was traveling south on Highway 169 when it collided with a 2007 Sterling dump truck that was heading north in the left turn lane to turn west.
The driver of the Lancer, Brayden Michael Grunzke of Zimmerman, died at the scene. The State Patrol says he was wearing a seat belt and that the vehicle’s airbags deployed.
The dump truck driver, a 64-year-old man from Rockford, was not hurt.
The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office, Elk River Police, Elk River Fire and Ambulance and the Minnesota Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
