Nearly 1,000 Turn Out for Grand Opening of St. Joseph Cabinet Plant

(KNSI) – Hansen & Company Woodworks says nearly 1,000 people came through the doors of its new St. Joseph manufacturing plant during a grand opening celebration last week.

The open house was held Thursday, July 23rd at the 92,000-square-foot facility at 2040 Jasmine Court. The company, which refers to the plant as HCo 2.0, offered guided tours of the production floor along with live music, food and drink from local vendors and family activities.

The plant is built around an automated cabinet line that the company says is the first of its kind in the country, a system that moves cabinet parts through cutting, sorting and staging with limited human handling before assembly.

Hansen & Company broke ground on the project in June of 2024, the same year the company marked its 20th anniversary. At the time, executives put the price tag at $20 million and said the plant would raise output from 150 cabinets a day to 500, a 400% increase, while adding at least six jobs. The company also partnered with St. Cloud Technical & Community College to train workers on the new robotic equipment.

The facility came online earlier this year and replaces two smaller plants the company operated outside St. Joseph. Hansen & Company builds commercial casework, architectural millwork, countertops and finishes, selling directly to contractors on projects that include multi-family housing, health care facilities and student housing.

The company says it expects to reach full production capacity later this year.
