(KNSI) – Authorities have identified the man who died Tuesday during a fishing trip on the Mississippi River near the Xcel Energy Monticello Nuclear Generating Power Plant as 28-year-old Tyler Tasche of Monticello.

According to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 caller reported around 10:30 a.m. that a fishing boat had capsized, throwing three men into the water. Xcel staff pulled Tasche from the river, and first responders performed CPR and other life-saving measures, but he did not survive.

Two other anglers, Tasche’s grandfather, 66-year-old Mark Tasche, and his brother, 18-year-old Tristan Tasche, both of Monticello, were able to reach shore safely.

Tyler leaves behind his wife, Gaby, and four children, Sophia, Sebastian, Ariel, and Amelia. An online fundraiser has been set up to help the family cover funeral and related expenses.
