(KNSI) – Summer break does not have to mean a break from regular meals for area kids.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota are again taking part in the federal Summer Food Service Program, serving free breakfasts, snacks and suppers at club and KIDSTOP sites across the region starting this week and running through August 21st. The program is administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and is open to all children enrolled at the participating locations.
Participating locations include the Discovery, Eastside, Roosevelt and Southside Boys & Girls Clubs, along with the Madison, Westwood, Kennedy, Clearview, Mississippi Heights, Pleasantview, Lincoln and Oak Hill KIDSTOP sites. Each site sets its own start date and serving times.
At the KIDSTOP sites, the schedule runs as follows:
Madison: starting June 2nd, breakfast from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. and a snack from 2:15 to 2:45 p.m.
Westwood: starting June 2nd, breakfast from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. and a snack from 2:45 to 3:15 p.m.
Kennedy: starting June 2nd, breakfast from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. and a snack from 2:45 to 3:15 p.m.
Oak Hill: starting June 2nd, breakfast from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. and a snack from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m.
Lincoln: starting June 2nd, breakfast from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. and a snack from 2:30 to 3:00 p.m.
Clearview: starting June 2nd, breakfast from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. and a snack from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m.
Mississippi Heights: starting June 1st, breakfast from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and a snack from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Pleasantview: starting June 1st, breakfast from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. and a snack from 1:45 to 2:15 p.m.
At the Boys & Girls Club sites, the meals shift later in the day:
Discovery, Eastside and Roosevelt: starting June 2nd, a snack from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. and supper from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Southside: starting June 3rd, a snack from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. and supper from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
All sites serve Monday through Friday.
Beyond the meals, the Clubs and KIDSTOP sites run summer activities ranging from academic enrichment and fine arts to cooking and sports.
Summer programming at the Clubs runs Monday through Friday from noon to 6:00 p.m., while KIDSTOP sites are open from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
