Xcel Energy Holding Ribbon Cutting For New Service Center

(KNSI) – Xcel Energy will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday for its new, expanded service center in Waite Park.

Officials from the utility, the St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Waite Park will be on hand to celebrate the opening of the facility. Xcel promises extra storage space and beefed-up staffing will mean faster response times to area power outages, hopefully reducing how long it takes to get the juice flowing again following severe storms, or other unplanned issues. The company says 80 people will be working there on day one, with more planned as demand increases.

Remarks will begin at 1:30 p.m. with tours and an ice cream social set to follow at 2:00. The service center is located on 5th Street South off of 34th Avenue South.
