(KNSI) – The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources wants to hear what anglers think about a plan that would let people fish for bass all year long.
Right now, there are times when bass fishing is completely off-limits. Under the new proposal, those closed periods would turn into catch-and-release windows instead. The catch and keep season would stay exactly as it is now.
Anyone who wants to weigh in has until Thursday, October 23rd to share their thoughts.
To submit comments, reach out to the DNR’s Fisheries Populations Monitoring and Regulations Manager Shannon Fisher by email at shannon.fisher@state.mn.us, by phone at 651-259-5206, or by mail at Bass Season Rules/Shannon Fisher, Box 20, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, 500 Lafayette Road, St. Paul, MN 55155.
If the DNR moves forward with the plan, the new rules would kick in for the 2026 fishing season.
