National Take A Friend Fishing Month Encourages Newcomers To Cast Their Lines

(KNSI) – Today marks the start of National Take A Friend Fishing Month, a new annual celebration created by Fishing’s Future, an organization based in South Padre Island, Texas. Throughout June, anglers across the country are encouraged to introduce someone new to fishing and share their passion and knowledge of the sport.

As part of the month, anglers can participate in two virtual tournaments through the Fishing Chaos app. One is the National Take a Friend Fishing Tournament, where anglers can earn points for taking new people fishing. The second, the National Take Your Family Fishing Tournament, allows anglers to earn points for taking their family fishing and compete for the title of “The Most Fishing Family in America.”

Prizes for tournament winners include a weeklong fishing vacation to South Padre Island, Texas, gear from American Fishing Tackle Company (AFTCO), Waggle and Zebco, and gift cards from Bass Pro Shops and Yum Baits. Participants will also receive exclusive discounts from event sponsors, including Academy Sports & Outdoors, Tackle Warehouse, Big Bite Baits and others.
