(KNSI) – The awesome 25-8 start for the St. Cloud Rox earlier this summer seems a distant memory as the season now hangs in the balance.
The Mankato MoonDogs have beaten the hometown team three times in as many days. Sunday’s result was in Game One of a best-of-three first round playoff series, which means St. Cloud has to run the table to if they want to make it to the Northwoods League championship game this weekend.
Sunday’s game flew by in Mankato. The Rox got the first run in the third inning but could not push across another the rest of the way. Mankato immediately tied it up in the bottom half. Pitchers for both sides then swapped donuts on the scoreboard until the tenth, with the MoonDogs breaking through for the victory.
Game Two is Monday night, with Game Three being Tuesday, if necessary. The Rox have home field advantage, so both games would take place at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud.
