(KNSI) – A 19-year-old has been sentenced for his role in a smash-and-grab burglary at a tobacco and pipe shop in St. Cloud.
Police were called to Smoke N’ Cloud in the 2800 block of Division Street on December 15th after the alarm sounded. Christian Dominic Dematteis and a 15-year-old were found at the scene and arrested after a brief foot chase.
According to the criminal complaint, the pair threw a five-pound dumbbell through the front glass door to gain entry. Dematteis, a St. Cloud teenager, admitted that he and the 15-year-old were friends from school and had burglarized the same business before.
Dematteis pleaded guilty to one count of attempted third-degree burglary and was sentenced to five years of probation and fined $50 in Stearns County District Court.
