SAINT CLOUD (KNSI) —
The Alexandria Cardinals defeated the Sauk Rapids Rice Storm in the Section 8AAA Final.
The Cardinals built a 12 point halftime lead thanks to 11 first half points from Erik Hedstrom. Hedstrom finished with 20 points and was named the All Star Trophy and Awards Player of the Game.
The Storm cut the Cardinals lead to 8 in the second half but it was all Cardinals after that and they came away with a 58-40 win.
Dominic Mathies scored 9 points for the Storm in defeat.
With the win, the Cardinals advance to the State Tournament.
