(KNSI) – Johnnie quarterback Aaron Syverson is in the running for the top individual award in Division III football.
Syverson’s resume will be weighed against four other players from across the country. The class consists of four quarterbacks and one linebacker. Syverson led St. Johns to an 11-1 record this season, including a perfect regular season. He tossed the rock with remarkable efficiency. Syverson had a 76.3% completion percentage, racking up nearly 4,400 yards and 51 touchdowns against only four interceptions.
Syverson has been in the running for the Gagliardi Award before, finishing as a semifinalist last season. He was a high school standout in Minnetonka and initially committed to Division Colorado State out of the Mountain West Conference. He then transferred back home. Syverson was an All-MIAC first-team selection in 2022 and 2023.
The accounting major hopes the numbers will favor him when the votes are tallied, and the winner is revealed the first week of January.
