Suspect and Victim Identified in Dassel Township Murder

(KNSI) – The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the name of the victim and suspect in the December 28th murder at a home in Dassel Township.

Authorities say 29-year-old Kayla Demarais was shot multiple times that morning, and the Midwest Medical Examiner has ruled her death a homicide. Her husband, 35-year-old Bryan Demarais, remains in jail and will have his first court appearance on Tuesday, January 2nd.

Two children were at home at the time of the shooting, but they were not hurt. They are being cared for and in protective custody. An investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
