(KNSI) — The strike at DeZURIK is over.
The company and employees from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers have ratified a new three-year contract. The agreement was the second tentative deal reached by the union’s negotiating committee and DeZURIK. The first came Thursday, June 1st. That pact was voted down by union members the following day and a strike was called.
Picket lines sprung up on Monday across from the building’s main entrance and negotiations started over. Members voted on a second preliminary agreement starting at 9:00 a.m. Friday, accepting the deal. Workers will return to the factory with the evening shift this Sunday. The sides had been at odds over a two-tier wage system, insurance premiums, paid time off, and labor relations.
DeZURIK President and Chief Executive Officer Bryan Burns emailed a statement to KNSI News saying his company and the IAMAW have “a long history of working together to serve member and customer needs, and we appreciate our partnership with the union and its shared commitment to that service. We look forward to continuing to manufacture the strong products we are known to produce and providing quality service to our customers.”
