(KNSI) – Girls on the Run Minnesota continues to expand outside of the Twin Cities, including in St. Cloud.

It needs coaches for the Spring 2023 season, mentoring 3rd-8th grade girls. The youth development program helps build up confidence through running. The organization says the sense of achievement on the course can be applied to setting life goals and other situations.

It started with just 24 girls in 2012. It now reaches over 4,000. Coaches are needed for 20 lessons in a 10-week period. A 5K will be scheduled at the end of the season for each group. It is open to people of all abilities.

Coaches receive all of the training and materials they need to be successful. Executive Director Kathleen Cannon says, “Sometimes folks aren’t sure if they’ll make a good coach, and after they complete training and begin leading lessons with their co-coaches, they’re delighted to realize they’re making a meaningful impact right away.”

A link to sign up to be a coach is here. The season starts on March 27th.
