MnDOT Seeks Public Input on Highway 10 Changes in Royalton

(KNSI) – The Minnesota Department of Transportation wants to hear from Royalton-area residents and business owners about what Highway 10 through their community should look like.

MnDOT is holding an open house-style public meeting Wednesday, August 12th from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Royalton Middle/High School, 120 South Hawthorn Street. Staff will present potential design options for the highway and take feedback on how the changes could affect the community.

There will be no formal presentation, and guests can come and go as they please. MnDOT is asking business owners to stop by between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. and members of the general public between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m.

The meeting is part of a broader study of 30 miles of Highway 10 between St. Cloud and Little Falls. MnDOT is reviewing current traffic problems and projecting future needs along the corridor, with particular attention to safety concerns such as difficult left turns and traffic signals that slow the flow of vehicles. The agency’s stated goals are improving safety, easing congestion, better managing access points and developing plans that are realistic to build, all while keeping the public involved in the process.

Another round of public meetings is scheduled for fall 2026 at several locations in the Watab and Little Rock Lake areas and in St. Cloud. Those sessions will lay out MnDOT’s preferred design alternative and the next steps in the process. The final study report is expected to be finished in the winter of 2026-2027.
