(KNSI) – The Benton County Fair is open to the public starting Tuesday. The first grandstand event is something brand new, says Fair Board Member Ted Prom.
“It’s a Ranch Rodeo, involves a lot of local teams, local horses. They’ll be doing roping, pen roping, trailer loading, sorting, doctoring. So, it should be a fun event,” says Prom.
Following up on Tuesday’s rodeo is a draft horse event the next morning.
Prom says a great slate of entertainment is lined up across two stages. Food and refreshments will be available along with a midway and fan favorite events like the demolition derby.
4-H has organized its annual art and craft fair and the FFA is running agriculture demonstrations at The Barnyard.
The Sauk Rapids VFW post provides a courtesy shuttle to get you to the Benton County Fairgrounds and back this week. Trustee Ken Schulte runs down the schedule.
“It’ll start on Tuesday. It’s the same schedule as last year, running from about two in the afternoon until about midnight. And it runs on the hour, so on the hour it will be either at the fairgrounds or at the Sauk Rapids VFW.”
Once you arrive at the fair, no matter how you get there, several green drop-off containers will be spread out across the grounds. Clothing donations go to the Disable American Veterans organization. Schulte says it would be appreciated if all apparel that is dropped off is washed beforehand and separated into plastic bags.
The fair runs until Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
