(KNSI) – After a week of repairs, St. Katharine Drexel school will reopen Monday, January 10th.

According to a letter sent to parents and obtained by KNSI, The fire marshal inspected the building Friday and approved reopening the school.

On Monday, January 3rd, parents were informed that several heat exchangers had frozen sometime over the winter break, and water had leaked into many of the classrooms, forcing the school to close. Maintenance technicians, along with the entire staff, worked to complete the repairs.

The letter read as follows:

Greetings Parents,

In the past couple of days, the school has made great strides with repairs. We are delighted to share that this afternoon the fire marshal inspected the building and optimistically offered his approval for the school to reopen this coming Monday, Jan. 10th.

A huge thank you to Joe Woodruff, our maintenance manager, the technicians who worked on the repairs, and the entire SKD staff for their efforts in assisting during this challenging week.

Parents, thanks again for your support and understanding and your children’s patience and resilience waiting for school to resume.

I have attached a few photos from this past weekend’s damages…

We will forward to opening the doors wide on Monday, Jan. 10th, and welcoming your children back to SKD!
