(KNSI) – The St. Cloud SWAT and police executed a search warrant and arrested a man with a history of gun crimes.

The St. Cloud Police Department’s Community Response Team says they searched a home in the 100-block of 14th Avenue South and arrested 36-year-old Roberto Antwan Williams on Thursday afternoon. The St. Cloud man, formally from Chicago, was wanted on outstanding warrants from Stearns County for violating the terms of his release.

Williams has been charged with two counts of felon in possession of a firearm and negligent storage of a firearm. In November of 2020, police were called to a home in the 800-block of 10th Avenue North after a five-year-old was shot. Police determined the child died from an accidental shooting. Prosecutors say Williams possessed the gun. He is also wanted on a count of 1st-degree robbery out of Benton County.

Williams has prior violent felony convictions for robbery in 2003, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon/vehicle in 2004, a second conviction for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon/vehicle in 2005, a conviction as an armed habitual criminal and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon in 2010, and an additional conviction in 2017 as an armed habitual criminal and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.
The convictions are out of Indiana and Illinois.

Williams was taken to the Stearns County Jail. His next court date is scheduled for October 26th.
