(KNSI) – Stearns County is getting ready to cut the ribbon on a new office to help veterans access the benefits they’ve earned.

Everyone is invited to the opening of the Melrose Veterans Service Office on Monday at noon inside the Melrose City Center, 225 1st Street Northeast.

According to county officials, the office will give veterans living on the western end of the county a convenient place to get benefits assistance, claims support and other resources.

The new satellite office restores a permanent presence in Melrose after the previous office closed several years ago. Since then, Stearns County has continued serving area veterans through monthly outreach visits at the Melrose American Legion while working to open the new site.

The office will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but will close the second and third Tuesday of each month for outreach services. Appointments will be available at 9:00, 10:00 and 11:00 a.m., and walk-ins will be welcome Monday through Thursday from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m.
