(KNSI) – Snow may not be in the forecast, and the weather may still feel like fall, but winter parking rules are now in effect across the St. Cloud area. The rules change from one city to the next.

St. Cloud has three sets of rules, depending on where you live.

In the central part of the city, odd/even parking is in effect from 1:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., November 1st through April 1st, no matter how much snow has fallen. On odd-numbered dates, park on the side with even house numbers, which is the south side of streets and the east side of avenues. On even-numbered dates, park on the side with odd house numbers, which is the north side of streets and the west side of avenues. The date changes at midnight, so drivers parking in the evening should go by the next day’s date.

In the St. Cloud State University neighborhood, drivers must follow the posted signs year-round. The signs prohibit parking from 1:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. on either Monday, Wednesday and Friday or Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

The rest of the city has a seasonal parking ban from November 1st through April 1st. It covers areas north and west of the Sauk River; west of the Mississippi River and south of 22nd Street South; west of Highway 15; north and east of Highway 10; and east of the Mississippi River and south of Minnesota Boulevard. Parking is not allowed in those areas from 1:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. It is allowed at other times as long as the street has been cleared of snow and ice.

During a declared snow emergency, any vehicle violating a city ordinance will be towed immediately so crews can plow. Snow emergencies are announced on local radio stations, on GovTV and on the city’s website.

In Sartell, parking is not allowed on city streets or alleys from 1:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., November 1st through March 31st. Vehicles in violation may be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.

In Sauk Rapids, parking is not allowed on city streets from 2:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., November 1st through March 31st. Police may remove an unattended vehicle that blocks traffic or gets in the way of snow removal. The owner must pay towing and storage fees to get it back, along with any fine.

In Waite Park, parking is not allowed on city streets from 2:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., November 1st through April 1st. Violators will be ticketed, and vehicles parked on a street while plows are working will be towed. Owners must pay all towing fees to get their vehicles out of impound.

In St. Joseph, parking is not allowed on city streets from 2:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., November 1st through April 1st. Vehicles parked on the streets can be ticketed and towed.

In St. Augusta, parking is not allowed on city streets from 1:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., November 1st through March 31st.
