(KNSI) – Kids can trade the usual trick-or-treat route for a runway this Halloween.
St. Cloud Sky Central Airport is hosting Haunted Hangars on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The family-friendly event, sponsored by Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 551 in St. Cloud, turns the airport’s planes into the playing field for a Halloween scavenger hunt.
Numbered pumpkins and spider webs will be hidden on airplanes around the hangars. As kids track them down, they’ll learn the parts of an aircraft along the way, such as the propeller, the strut and the tail.
Local pilots will be on hand to show off their planes and answer questions, giving families an up-close look at the aircraft. There will also be games and a chance to win a free flight.
Families who arrive right at 2:00 p.m. may also catch an Allegiant Air Airbus A320 taking off for Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.
The airport is at 1550 45th Avenue Southeast in St. Cloud.
