(KNSI) — A St. Cloud man is facing charges after allegedly leading police on a pursuit early Monday that ended with his vehicle crashing into a house.
According to the St. Cloud Police Department, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a seatbelt and turn signal violation in the 600 block of 11th Street South. The driver fled, prompting officers to pursue with lights and sirens activated. While fleeing, the driver hit several parked, unoccupied vehicles before veering into a yard in the 1000 block of 15th Avenue South, where he crashed into a porch. The driver then tried to flee on foot but was caught by officers.
A search of the vehicle allegedly turned up a large amount of suspected methamphetamine, other suspected controlled substances, drug paraphernalia consistent with sales, and a handgun with ammunition.
Police say the 44-year-old was taken to CentraCare-St. Cloud Hospital for minor injuries and evaluation, and once released, will be booked into the Stearns County Jail on charges related to the pursuit.
No one else was hurt.
KNSI News does not typically name suspects until they have been formally charged.
