(KNSI) — The St. Joseph Police Department is investigating an overnight hit-and-run crash that left one person seriously injured.

Police say the crash happened at the intersection of Minnesota Street East and 12th Avenue Southeast sometime between 11:35 p.m. Saturday, September 5th, and 12:15 a.m. Sunday, September 6th.

According to investigators, the suspect vehicle was traveling southbound on 12th Avenue Southeast when the driver hit someone riding a scooter and left the scene. Investigators believe the vehicle has front-end damage and possibly a damaged windshield.

The victim remains hospitalized. Their identity is not being released at this time.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has doorbell, security, or dash-camera footage from the area during that time period, to come forward. Anyone with information is urged to contact the St. Joseph Police Department at (320) 363-8250.
