(KNSI) – An event glorifying a popular Sunday morning hangover cure was recently celebrated in St. Cloud, and some funds were set aside to save lives.

Organizers of the second annual Bloody Mary Crawl called it a success following an overwhelming debut in 2023. Officials say that standardized six-ounce glasses and selling presale buttons helped. White Horse General Manager Katy Copa was one of those who put together this year’s crawl and told KNSI News that even though there were fewer attendees, it went a lot smoother. “This year, it was a lot more manageable for everybody. And everybody was able to serve Bloody Marys all day long. Instead of running out in the first hour, which is what happened last year.” Around 2,000 people participated compared to 3,000 last year.

All the money from the presale buttons went to the CentraCare Heart and Vascular Center. Those wearing the button got a dollar off each drink. A total of $628 was collected for the healthcare provider.

She said the 17 stores, bars and restaurants stated it was a lucrative event for them. The Bloody Mary taste test competition didn’t return in 2024, but Copa hopes it will and feels it’s something that can help the event grow. “I think we might bring that back next year. But we just wanted to get a good base to build off of. So, we did. This was awesome. This was fun. This was a great way to get people downtown on a Sunday, which is not a normal thing. So lots of positive feedback.”
