(KNSI) — The Sauk Rapids Police Department says it has received a donation of an emergency sensory kit.
The kit comes from a nonprofit known as Bit of Grace. According to its website, it provides public safety agencies with tools to help de-escalate situations that can be stressful and give alternate methods of communication.
The bags are filled with noise-reducing earmuffs, communication cards, a whiteboard and markers, plushies and stuffies, fidget gadgets, a sensory chew, and more.
Two kits have already been donated, and the third just arrived on New Year’s Eve, according to a post on the Sauk Rapids Police Department Facebook page.
The donor wished to remain anonymous.
A statement on the page says the department is “always striving to learn about new things and use them on calls. We understand some citizens communicate in other ways, the sensory bag is a great tool for us to have. We are thankful our community sees that as well and made a generous donation so we can have another bag on hand,” and added community support “never goes unnoticed.”
