Law Enforcement Says Person Killed In Monday’s Howard Lake Shooting

(KNSI) – The victim in Monday’s Howard Lake shooting died from wounds suffered at the scene, according to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting happened at about 12:05 p.m. near 300 Dura Drive. Police identify the victim as 20-year-old Adrian Montano Medina from Lester Prairie. A suspect in the shooting was taken into custody a short time later. The person who called police was able to provide a license plate and the vehicle was tracked to Waverly. Kevin Zelayo Asencio was arrested after a traffic stop by sheriff’s deputies.

Zelayo Asencio, who is 23, has not been officially charged yet by the Wright County Attorney’s Office. The sheriff’s office says a gun was found inside the vehicle and Zelayo Asencio was the only occupant when the traffic stop occurred.
