(KNSI) — The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory in effect until noon on Friday.

Forecasters predict a high of six below zero Thursday with an overnight low of 22 below Thursday night and then rebounding Friday to a high of two above. Forecasters say winds will be relatively light, but with air temperatures so cold, even a breath of wind can drive the wind chills down. Wind chills of 25 to 35 degrees below zero are possible.

The northwestern part of the state is under a wind chill warning until noon Friday, with wind chills as cold as 55 degrees below zero.

Saturday daytime will be warmer with a high around 30, but the arctic air returns with a low of eight below Saturday night. The area doesn’t return to above zero temps until Tuesday.

If you have to be out and about, dress in layers, cover exposed skin, and limit time outside as frostbite can set in in just a few minutes.
