(KNSI) – A young man is recovering after a rollover crash in rural Stearns County.

The sheriff’s office got a report around 7:00 a.m. on Saturday about an unoccupied car crashed in Avon Township.

The crash was near 10054 County Road 138, northwest of Highway 23 and County Road 6.

The caller reported the vehicle looked to have rolled over and that no one was on the scene.

A note was left on the vehicle saying the car would be picked up later that day.

Through their investigation, deputies learned that the 1998 Ford Mustang, driven by Brenden Steineman, 18, of Paynesville, left the roadway earlier on July 3rd, 2021, and rolled several times and landed in the ditch.

Steineman reported to the deputies that he was traveling at 42 MPH when his right-side tire locked up.

Steineman was taken to a hospital by private vehicle with minor injuries.

He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
