(KNSI) – A Big Lake Police Department K9 is getting praise for helping get drugs off the street.
Police Chief Matt Hayen posted on the Department’s Facebook page Tuesday that Officer Guy Chaffee and his K9 partner, Bruno, were asked by a neighboring department to help after a suspect ran from a traffic stop.
The agency asked if Bruno could search for drugs they believe the suspect threw from the vehicle as he fled.
Investigators say Bruno began a sniff along a fence line until he found two plastic baggies that contained a green leafy substance.
Bruno later pulled Officer Chaffee into a wooded area where they located a large plastic baggie with what appeared to be Xanax pills.
Officers found marijuana, pills, cocaine, and Fentanyl pills.
The suspect was eventually arrested.
