(KNSI) – Hundreds of bike riders will be in the St. Cloud area this weekend to compete at the Pineview Park BMX track.
President of the Pineview BMX Park Terry Schroeder was a guest on KNSI with Steve Gottwalt and said they’re hosting a big event on Sunday, a state qualifying meet.
“The kids will come here from all of the tracks around the state. We’ve got kids that will come from around the region from North and South Dakota and Wisconsin, Iowa as well to participate because it is such a great event. And so we’ll see about six to 800 riders here.”
He says BMX Racing is an excellent activity for kids.
“We’re probably the best kept secret in St. Cloud. I think a lot of people don’t realize that we’re here what we do and what we’re all about. But we’re really all about kids. We’re really all about trying to create a safe environment. To get our kids out and experience in alternative sports. Spend some time outdoors, make some new friends.”
This weekend is in the middle of 11 days of summer racing at the track.
Along with the competition on Sunday, there are other competitive races for kids of all ages on Friday and Saturday.
There’s also live music by the “MugWugs” and a beer garden from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the race track on Saturday Night for
