SAINT CLOUD (KNSI) —
The Sartell Sabres defeated the St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders in the Section 6A Quarterfinals.
The Sabres scored early in the first period on a goal from Josh Kern. Connor Hacker and Billy Vogt also scored first period goals for the Sabres as Sartell built a 3-1 1st intermission lead.
Parker Comstock and Lacen VanDenBerg scored for Sartell in the 2nd period as they extended the lead to 5-1.
Sterling McCabe, Blake Legatt and Josh Kern added insurance goals in the third period as the Sabers came away with a 8-1 victory.
With two goals, Josh Kern was named the All Star Trophy and Awards Player of the Game.
Brandon Hemmer scored the lone goal for the Crusaders in the first period.
With the win, the Sabers advance to the Semifinals of the Section 6A tournament and will play Little Falls on Tuesday.
