SAINT CLOUD (KNSI) — The St. Cloud Icebreakers fell to the Alexandria Cardinals 5-4 on Thursday.
Alexandria was the first to strike in the first period, and they never let the Icebreakers have the lead throughout the game. The Cardinals took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
In the second period, Kat Bell tied it up to make it 2-2, but Alexandria instantly retaliated to get their lead back. They took a 4-3 lead into the 3rd period.
In the third, Alexandria scored in the power play to go up 5-3. With a minute left, the Icebreakers got one through to make it 5-4 and then pulled their goalie to try to tie it up before the buzzer, but were unsuccessful. The final score was 5-4 in favor of Alexandria.
Kat Bell lead the Icebreakers with 2 goals and was selected as the All Star Trophy and Awards Player of the game.
