(KNSI) – Student-athletes at Saint John’s University and College of Saint Benedict finally have the go-ahead to start their winter sports seasons soon.
The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced that regular-season competition can start next month for basketball, hockey, indoor track and field and swimming and diving.
A seven-game conference schedule for hockey and basketball kicks off on February 6th. That day, both schools’ basketball teams will face off against Hamline, with CSB at home and SJU traveling. The hockey teams will also play against Bethel, with the men’s team hosting and the women’s team traveling.
CSB is finalizing an indoor track and field schedule with four to five meets, including a home meet as early as February 7th. CSB swimming and diving anticipates a four-meet schedule.
The MIAC says there won’t be playoffs or postseason championships for winter sports this year, but teams that qualify for NCAA championships can play there.
Spectators are not allowed at MIAC competitions due to COVID-19 precautions.
