Sports Wrap: Cathedral Boys Soccer Loses Heartbreaker in State Semifinal; Tech Falls in Class AA

Class A

Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa 1, Cathedral 0: These two teams met earlier this year, with Cathedral picking up the shutout. The result was reversed on Wednesday. Regulation saw a nil-nil tie, but the Panthers’ Kirt Rude went two-on-one, splitting a pair of defenders on the right side of the box and flicking it over the head of Cathedral keeper Noah Henderson just before the 96-minute mark.

Class AA

Hill-Murray 6, St. Cloud Tech 1: The Tigers trailed just 2-1 at the half before the Pioneers poured it on after the break. Tech’s Omar Ali scored with only 58 seconds left in the first period.
