(KNSI) – The Minnesota State Fair opens to the public in nine days!

If you want to be one of the first people through the gate, just remember the Great Minnesota Get Together gets going an hour later this year, according to spokesperson Maria Hayden.

“The gates will be opening at 7:00 a.m. And then we have some tweaks on the night end as well for admission and hours,” says Hayden.

She appeared on Monday’s Ox in the Afternoon program on KNSI with Dan “The Ox” Ochsner.

The new hours were approved in January by the Minnesota State Agricultural Society, along with a one dollar price increase for all age groups.

The Blue Ribbon Bargain Book offers savings on food, merchandise, and other attractions. It can be found locally at St. Cloud area Cash Wise locations.

It may be hard to believe, but the Minnesota State Fair has never had bingo. That changes later this month, being played at the Ramberg Center. Spokesperson Maria Hayden says there are plenty of other firsts as well.

“We’ll be having a new exhibit called Survival: The Exhibition in the North End Events Center. It’s got a nice big exhibit hall. We, in 2019, hosted our first exhibit there. We had Angry Birds Universe, which was super popular, super fun, and interactive. So, we’re excited to be able to bring Survival: The Exhibition.”

Fresh food offerings, the Music Express and Iron Dragon midway rides, and about 60 new merchandise vendors are a sampling of things to discover at this year’s event.
