(KNSI) – A six-year-old girl who was shot while riding in a vehicle Monday night in Minneapolis has died.
The family confirmed to multiple media outlets Wednesday that Aniya Allen had died of her injuries.
She was shot in the head as Minneapolis police say gunfire rang out in the area of 36th and Penn Avenues North on Monday night. She was sent to Hennepin Healthcare. A man was also critically hurt in the incident, police say.
Aniya is the third child to have been shot in the head in Minneapolis in recent weeks. A family member has organized a GoFundMe for the child’s medical bills and funeral expenses.
